Maybe some of your favorite movies, TV shows, or actresses were nominees in the Golden Globe last Sunday night. (Inside Out and Downton Abbey, anyone?)
What you didn’t see on TV were Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, whose mantra is “Change the World By Being Yourself,” interviewing some of the night’s winners and nominees!
The questions weren’t about “who they were wearing,” but instead were things like advice they’d give their younger selves, and how they deal with stress.
You can watch all the videos here, but these are some of our favorites:
On Freedom From Being Self-Conscious
Please try to waste less time being embarrassed. People are not thinking or talking about you nearly as much as you think they are.
On Finding Your Passion
If you are still searching for your passion, the most important thing is to not freak out about it. You’re young. You have a lot of time to figure it out. The most important thing to do is to keep trying, keep engaging with the world. You might be surprised at how your passion finds you.
On Not Being Afraid of Failure:
“If we only relied on the things we knew were going to work, it would probably be the same as Toy Story. You only make new, innovative stuff by trying stuff, and sometimes that’s not going to work.”
-Producers of Inside Out
And speaking of Amy Poehler,we love it when she said:
“I want to be around people that do things. I don’t want to be around people anymore that judge or talk about what people do. I want to be around people that dream and support and do things.”
