Every year, girls across the county earn the highest award in Girl Scouting: the Gold Award.
They spend 80 hours planning, building their team, brainstorming community issues, and addressing them with sustainable solutions. Our local girls address issues like poverty, health, disease awareness, literacy, the arts, sports, and more!
From the pool of Gold recipients, ten exceptionally-inspiring girls are chosen annually from across the country as the National Young Women of Distinction.
These girls’ projects demonstrate extraordinary leadership, have long-term impact on their communities, and address a local challenge related to a national and/or global issue. The YWOD are taking matters into their own hands and being the change the world needs! They set out to do things like teach self defense to girls in India, or raise awareness about renewable energy – and they DO THEM.
