For 66 days, girls across the Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Johnson City areas pounded the pavement selling Girl Scout Cookies. The sale came to a close yesterday, and we are now awaiting final totals!
Yes, cookies are iconic, delicious, and practically sell themselves – but it’s the life skills being learned in the process and the girls themselves who are the real MVPs. It’s the girls who are stepping out of their comfort zones, talking to customers, making change, talking about what they’re going to do with the funds earned – we are SO PROUD of the more than 6 thousand girls who participated!
You know that Thin Mints and Tagalongs are irresistible, but did you know that the first documented sale of Girl Scout Cookies was in 1922? Girl Scouts baked simple sugar cookies with their mothers, packaged them in wax paper bags, sealed them with a sticker, and sold them from door-to-door for 25 to 25 cents per dozen.
