…thus do we Guides, of all kinds and of all ages and of all nations, go with the highest and the best towards the spreading of true peace and goodwill on earth.

February 22 is World Thinking Day, a time to rally the global sisterhood that is Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from 146 countries to take action in the world! World Thinking Day has been celebrated since 1926!

The 2017 World Thinking Day theme is “grow”—inspiring girls to explore, stretch, and take on new challenges, while celebrating what it means to be part of the global sisterhood that is Girl Scouts and Girl Guides.

How will your troop celebrate?

Earn your World Thinking Day award! There’s a set of requirements for Daisy, Brownie, and Junior girls, and another for Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador girls. You only have to do one of the activities to earn the award, so make sure to check it out!

Complete the World Thinking Day challenge and earn the World Thinking Day challenge badge! Part of the challenge is to go on a treasure hunt with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world along with new potential members to find the “seeds of change”. These seeds are a symbol of all efforts to grow our Movement, so more girls and young women  feel empowered to discover their full potentials. There are tons of activities to choose from!

Plant a tree! Celebrate World Thinking Day and mark the beginning of a new friendship by planting a tree.

Share a photo of your group celebrating with the world online using #LetsGrow.

Your troop might also choose to hold an international festival day, where troops research and represent member countries of WAGGGS. It’s pretty special to hear the Girl Scout Promise spoken in different languages, and to taste food that our sister Girl Scouts eat.

Read all about member countries of WAGGGS on their website!

However, you choose to celebrate World Thinking Day 2017, we hope you feel connected to Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world. Take pictures and share on our Facebook!
